George Brown, '74, MBA '81PresidentDatabase Solutions
George Brown, founder and President of Database Solutions, Inc., earned his Bachelor’s and MBA degrees from La Salle University. Brown has managed many projects, including the document management application which emerged as Microsoft SharePoint. Over the past forty years, Database Solutions, under Brown’s leadership has developed a series of “first” applications including the first Philadelphia ATM systems, the first school internet using cable modem, the first virtual real estate sites to tour homes for sale or rent, and the first home shopping network application for viewers to purchase products via a remote control.
Brown’s extensive career has included the position of Acting CIO in Manufacturing, Retail, Insurance and Communications companies. He has also managed teams developing a series of applications which use the emerging technology of that time. The applications included solution development for American Airlines, development of Sabre reservation system, development of hurricane and earthquake damage estimating models using database and mapping software, development of the first web based Human Resources application for doing 360 Performance Reviews, and development of the first cloud-based application for managing software defects. George Brown has engaged many new technologies during his career and he continues to stay involved in the changing technology landscape.
